Photos: 48 Hours in Austin Texas with SoGnar

We took a trip to lovely Austin,Texas to go visit our good friend Griff. Griff, as most Colorado residents would know him from Cosmo's Pizza in Boulder, moved down to Austin a few years back. The opportunity arose to do up some wall murals in a brand spanking new Wahoo's Fish taco restaurant . So, we made up a few specialized designs for Texas and went to town for 48 hours. 48 hours, 2 plane tickets, one day of wakeboarding, one hip hop show, 2 pool parties, plenty of Wahoo's fish tacos and 17 cowboy hats' later...we have this video edit. "Don't Mess With So-Gnar!" Fool. Here are the pics for the trip plus a few Sheppard Fairey goodies we spotted around town.

So-Gnar pays a visit to the Zumiez Couch Tour.

Tis was a fun day on the couch tour. Rodney Mullen was in town, he provides a very large source of creative freedom to me and is probably one of the nicest guys ever to top of his genius level of moves on his skateboard. The tour stopped through our town of Denver, so Reed from Ink Monstr and I decided to go check things out and say hello to a few peoples. I have to say, the tour was really impressive, very well presented with proper sponsors and a rad set-up to skate. The staff was super organized almost too organized, because they spotted me and pressured me into a interview slot. I enjoyed the interview it was fun and I of course acted a fool with the critter mask over my real face. The most genuine aspect of the tour was the fun all the kids were having. There was a large open parking lots to skate and session with your friends, and after seeing the demo all the pros put on, you could immediately go and try some new tricks yourself! Fun is the key, skateboarding is not a sport it's a fun lifestyle we all live together and the energy felt naturally that way. I passed out a bunch of stickers that day, here are a few pictures of where they ended up.

Is Afganistan the US's 51st State?

It looks like we just adopted our 51st state, especially since we just sent another 30,000 troops back over to their country. 1 TRILLION DOLLARS worth of "Untapped" mineral deposits in Afghanistan, that could almost put a dent in the rough estimate of $13 trillion dollars of United States of America Debt. Just a quick little article for you folks to chew on, especially when I was wondering why we continue to send troops over seas to Afghanistan for all these years...Makes me wonder why this war is still going on, and when it will ever end??? Interesting motives and definitely gnarly...

More International Media Coverage
From the magazine racks of Japan, comes FREERUN MAGAZINE. These shots were taken right here in the heartland of the good old USA, and selected by the editors of FreeRun. First off, Snowboarder's are not famous! I don't care how you attempt your validation, it's simply snowboarding. It's a bad habit...well kinda, but simply because it's addictive and it ruins any dreams of filling one of society's normal job positions. Like a lawyer, a navy seal, or owning a Medicinal Marijuana Dispensary, snowboarding serves the greatest purpose in my life! It makes me happy. Being Happy rules! So go snowboard, and think about me when you are trying to get famous doing something society will validate your fame for. I earned mine through trying my best NOT to be famous, and making art through snowboarding, which in return made me happy.

No Snowboarding? Aint that something...

Colorado Skier visits up! Awesome, what about snowboarders? How did we do? More revenue for our tourist based economy and longer lift lines once again. Huh, well at least people love this great state and feel the same desire to live it up and play in the Rocky Mountains. So I read this article today about the business of our Snow Industry. Our industry is NOT simply comprised of skiers. Snowboarding isn't even discussed in these statistics, wtf? I could guess that Snowboarding makes up for a large percentage of visits. Don't you think these census tally people, whoever they are, could AT LEAST mention us and our contributions as snowboarders... May seem like I am crying wolf here, but come on, wake up and stay current with the times. We don't carry poles, but we definetely do share the same slopes and as the media refers to it as "skiing conditions." Not a peep about riding, or shredding??? I support traditional methods of society, yet the frustration of traditional thinking gets old, boring and ages like the smell of my worn out snowboard boots after a long season of increased skier visits.

Gosh Darn Gusher

I live in a city that is roughly 5,280 feet above the sea. This city is Denver, Colorado. Directly southeast of the city I presently reside in is the state of Florida. There is a epidemic going on right now that is going be effecting the entire world forever. Deep below the surface of the Atlantic Ocean, about the same distance as the height of Denver, Colorado there is a situation that is so gnarly that I have a difficult time even typing about it. Once again the topic is oil. That topic sure does play a constant role in our world of media happenings and politic disputes. The multi billion dollar, I believe roughly 25 billion dollar company BP (British Petroleum) has a hole in a pipe that is gushing oil at overwhelming high rate. It is completely unknown how much oil has been released into the ocean, but rough guesstimates range anywhere from 5 millions to 125 million gallons...
